A teenager thought to be at the center of a Minecraft gamers feud has been arrested after an explosion that shut down hundreds of colleges and schools across the UK. Hertfordshire police detained the 19-year-old after 24,000 threatening emails to schools were sent warning of a bomb attack and soliciting money. The emails were spoofed to appear as if they were sent by a gaming network known as VeltPvP. VeltPvP, an online Minecraft player-versus-player server is the same service that companies use to sell their products to gamers. In the aftermath of the hoax bomb emails, signs were placed outside Cardinal Road School in Feltham The parties involved in the fight claimed that the rivals were involved in illegal activities to hinder one another's business. 'It is horrible, it's not the nicest thing', one hoaxers involved was asked if regrets the impact the letters had had on the school pupils who were forced to leave. Placing the blame on VeltPvP, the hoaxer said the network had enaged in a series of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks - which he alleges were used to shut down other rival Minecraft servers. Parents were urged to pick up their children following the bomb hoax threat email VeltPvP issued a statement stating that they were being targeted and harassed by cybercriminals. We're sorry for everyone who had to deal with this, but just know it's fake.' The email was sent to more than 400 schools and colleges across the nation. MINECRAFT PROFILES It claimed that an explosive had been planted and would explode if money was not provided. Cardinal Road School, Feltham, West London was one of the schools to receive the hoax email. Police forces in London, Bristol, Liverpool, Bedfordshire and the the North East were among those conducting an investigation. Parents at some schools requested to to pick their children up due to fears about the emails. While six schools across Hertfordshire were also among those affected: Abbots Hill in Hemel Hempstead, Valley School in Stevenage, The Sele School in Hertford, Duncombe School in Hertford, Stanborough School in Watford and St Albans High School.
